Very nice place. Thought to make reservations here and so glad we did. Parking is a pain here and saw a family of about 5 get turned away because they were completely booked. We were in the 5:30 bunch and were seated promptly. Britany (I hope that's her name.  Dark hair in a bun) was our server and was excellent. She really took care of us.
Got the tips and mushrooms as the appetizer which was excellent. Would highly recommend. Asked about what exactly Tobacco Onion Rings were and Britany brought us a few to sample. Not a big fan of thin sliced onion rings but these were wonderful!  Named after the thin sliced tobacco that came in old time pouches it would seem. Wife ordered a sirloin steak with Mac&Cheese. IMO, it was bordering on dry for a medium well steak but it did have a great taste. Her Mac&Cheese side was excellent. Can't explain it; you've just got to experience it for yourself. I got the Sirloin Hamburger Steak I'd read about and have to admit, it was excellent. Everything I expected and more!  Easily top 2 or 1 I've ever had. My fries side was good but regretted not getting the Mac&Cheese; totally envious!  Finished the meal by splitting a Vanilla Bean Cream Brûlée. It was very good.
I'd totally recommend this place for a nice sit-down meal for a special occasion or such.

Our favorite new spot!! Absolutely loved everything about our experience here!

I think what topped it off the most was how the manager/owner would try to accomodate those without reservations like us by sitting at the bar side of the restaurant which i assume is less desirable lol. I mean, its closer to the bar so my husband and i didnt mind one bit! Lol but regardless, it was a great first impression.

Next was the service. Ed was our guy for the night and he was superb! Even the table next to us wouldnt stop gushing about how great their date night was thanks to him. And it only continued with us! He was prompt, attentive to your needs, and just pleasant company. Just made the night that much better.

Now for food! The one main reason i decided to come here was because of the jalepeño ranch dressing for their salad! Lol and it was superb! Everything i dreamed it would be thankfully. Shrimp cocktail was pretty good. Kinda pricey for the size shrimp but we were still satisfied. My husband got the 10 oz steak with baked mac n cheese and i got the honey chipotle salmon special with wild rice. My husband thought his steak was on the tougher side but overall still pleased with how it came out. Baked mac n cheese was also delish! I liked my salmon and rice a lot, but the honey chipotle sauce was a bit too sweet and thick, like it needed a bit watering down. I had to scrape some off to enjoy my salmon more. I was still thoroughly pleased and it was a good portion so i had leftover for lunch.

Their bread seems to have changed from previpus photos of this fluffier, garlic french bread type to a denser, ciabatta type plain bread. Good still but man i was hoping for that garlic butter bread. We also got some pumpkin cheesecake which i could tell was made in house. Delicious too! Could use more crust though.

Overall, we could honestly say we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and feeling like grown ups in this rather swanky establishment. We truly cant wait to come back and go here again next Ruidoso stay!

If I could, I would give 0 stars. I would comment on their terrible service but they didn't give us any... walked in @ 1:50 in the afternoon. Wasn't crowded. Waited 5 minutes for a staff to come to the front & tell us "it's going to be quite awhile. We have a lot of dirty tables." We went elsewhere.

This restaurant was a delight! We had the prime rib special, and it was very good. Surprisingly, it was one of the least expensive menu options. Our server was very attentive, and offered several suggestions while we were deciding. If we ever come back through Ruidoso, we will stop her for sure!

Simply stated, this is a marvelous and very reasonably priced steakhouse. The quality is such that they could double the price of their offerings and succeed in large metro areas such as Dallas, Houston, Denver or Phoenix.

The charm and quality start as soon as you enter. Immediately to the right is easily the nicest bar in Ruidoso. It is cozy, intimate, well stocked and the barkeeps are friendly.

The food, frankly, is above reproach. My favorite steak is the baseball cut top sirloin topped with bleu cheese crumbles, which is a total steal at $26. It compares favorably with steaks I've had at Bob's Steaks and Chops and the Hyde Park Grille, but at half the price. The sides, too, are tremendous. Particularly, the tobacco onion rings and the mac and cheese are off the chart. I do wish, however, they offered sauteed mushrooms. Likewise, their salads are fresh, and contain lettuces other than the usual iceberg and romaine. The dressings are house-made.

As for service and atmosphere, again, I have nothing but good things to say. The waiters and waitresses are competent, cordial and there when you need them. The restaurant itself has the slightly roughhewn, southwestern charm that screams Ruidoso, but is also graced by a touch of elegance. And perhaps best of all, there are no televisions in the dining rooms.

In conclusion, I wish The Ranchers would open a branch in Lubbock. It would immediately blow away all competition, and would be a regular haunt for me and many others.
